History
Founder
of Profound Putters, Bernt Stellander
inventor and designer, a Norwegian born in Graz, Austria, grew up
in northern part of Norway, Tromsø, above the Arctic Circle,
where the world's northernmost golf course is located.
He played semi-professional soccer when he was injured in a game
in 1996 and had to retire from his soccer career. A few years later,
in the summer of the year 2000 he was introduced to the game
of golf for the very first time, and was immediately hooked. He
especially found a passion for putters and putting, the important
game within the game.
His background from studies in Optometry and his passion for geometry
and design made
him start to think about putters, and the importance of aiming and
aligning. So he started developing a totally new approach to club
head design with focus on both visual aspects
and physical properties of putters. Great alignment and forgiveness
are top priorities
for our Stellander.
After less than two years in the game, a brand new alignment system
with many visual options was invented. Utility and design patent
applications were registered at the US Patent Office.
His ultimate dream is to follow in the footsteps of another famous
Norwegian, the late and great Mr. Karsten Solheim.
