Visual Aspects - The Importance of True
Aim
True
Aim is when both eyes are parallel and perpendicular above the ball's
centre and the target line. Then they are on plane!
"True Aim" is the only way to aim and align a putt correctly
- according to the scientific principles of Optometry.
True Aim indication can only be given by a
3D alignment system!
If the eyes are not over the ball, the "motion control centre"
of the brain (which evaluates vision, balance and body position)
will compensate for misalignment by making unintentional movements
of the body during the stroke, due to an imbalance of the sensory
information from vision and position sensors. This leads to players,
in many cases, inadvertantly, pulling the ball towards the left
side of the hole, while actually aiming to the right side of the
hole... a process which they will not be consciously aware of.
Those who don't experience this over-compensation tendency will
in some cases miss the putt on the side of the hole they are actually
aiming at (visually). This is often referred to as a pushed putt,
while in fact in some cases being a straight, but misaligned putt.
